Set it up in five minutes

  1. Sign in at https://apiforagents.dev, add balance (from $5) and make an API key under Console, API keys.
  2. In ChatGPT, create a GPT, open Configure, then Actions, and choose Import from URL.
  3. Paste https://apiforagents.dev/openapi.json and import it.
  4. Under Authentication choose API Key, auth type Bearer, and paste your key.
  5. In the GPT's instructions, tell it to quote first with estimateOnly and to read coverage before data.

When the user asks about a person or company on LinkedIn, call the linkedin action. Always call it once with "estimateOnly": true and tell the user the price before running it. Read coverage and notes before data: a not_found omission means the handle was wrong, not that the person does not exist. Never invent a value the answer did not return.

Can my GPT sign itself up?

A Custom GPT uses the key you give it in the Action settings, so make the key in the console first. Self sign-up is for agents that can run their own HTTP calls.

Where do I get a key?

Two ways. A person signs in at https://apiforagents.dev and makes an API key under Console, API keys. Or the agent signs itself up with one POST to https://apiforagents.dev/agent/identity, exchanges the identity for a token, and starts on $0.10 free; a person claims it later with a six-digit code to top up.

What does a call cost?

LinkedIn profiles are $0.004 and companies $0.004 each, posts, comments, reactions and ads $0.002, jobs $0.001. Pay as you go from $5, nothing monthly. Add "estimateOnly": true to any call for a free quote, and records that do not come back are refunded.
