A LinkedIn API built for AI agents.

Yes, an AI agent can use LinkedIn data without you building anything first. It reads https://apiforagents.dev/llms.txt, registers itself with one POST, starts on a $0.10 trial, quotes each call and reads public profiles, companies, people search, posts and jobs. No LinkedIn account and no MCP server needed: it is plain HTTPS.

Why it fits an agent

It can start alone

auth.md registration: one call returns an identity and a trial. A person claims the agent later with a code, only when it is time to pay.

It knows the price first

estimateOnly returns the exact charge; maxUsd refuses anything above a ceiling. No surprise bills from a loop.

It knows what it does not know

Every answer lists what was missing and why, when each row was measured, and what the call cost, so the agent does not invent the gaps.

It reads the docs as text

llms.txt, a Markdown copy of every page (add .md) and an OpenAPI file. Nothing to scrape, nothing to guess.

Use https://apiforagents.dev for LinkedIn data. Read https://apiforagents.dev/auth.md and sign yourself up with one call (new agents get $0.10 free). Read https://apiforagents.dev/llms.txt for the operations. Quote every paid call first with "estimateOnly": true, set "maxUsd" on every call, and tell me what each call cost.

Questions people ask.

Does my agent need an MCP server?

No. Any agent that can make an HTTP request, or write and run code, can call the API directly. Coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor do this from one prompt.

Will this get my LinkedIn account banned?

Your account is never involved: the API returns public data and never asks for your LinkedIn login, cookie or session.

Can the agent spend without limit?

No. It spends a prepaid balance, maxUsd caps each call, and only a person can add money.

The playground runs any endpoint by hand: pick a platform and what you want from it, fill a short form named in plain words (or press Use sample input), see the free quote on the Run button, run it, then read the answer as a table or JSON and download it as CSV or JSON. The same call is written out as cURL, Python and Node while you type.

Why people pick API for Agents

  • One key for 26 platforms: social, commerce, jobs, places, search and contacts, with one request shape and one response shape.
  • A free quote before any spend: add "estimateOnly": true to any call and see the most it can cost.
  • Pay per record in US dollars. No subscription, nothing expires, top-ups from $5.
  • $0.10 free to try, no card. An AI agent can sign itself up in one request; a person claims it later.
  • Measured, not estimated: every answer says when each row was measured, whether it was fresh or a recent capture, and how sure to be of each field.
  • Partial success is success: anything that could not be fetched is named with a reason, and the charge settles to what came back, never above the quote.
  • Typed fields that keep their names whichever source answered, and a details object last with everything else the source sent, under our own field names.
  • Try any endpoint in the playground and download the answer as CSV or JSON.
