# Brand monitoring on Reddit and X. What people say when you are not in the room.

> Search Reddit and X posts that mention your brand or a competitor, then read the Reddit comments on the threads that matter. Priced per record.

Search all of Reddit and X for your brand, product or competitor names, newest first, then pull the comments on the Reddit threads with real discussion. Feed the text to your model for sentiment and themes.

- Reddit: from $0.0045 per record
- X: from $0.000225 per record
- Free to start: $0.10

## The workflow

1. Run Reddit search with your brand name and sort "newest". For a weekly digest, use sort "top" with postedWithin "7d"; postedWithin applies to top only.
2. Run X searchPosts with the same query for what X is saying, across all authors.
3. Pick the Reddit threads with the most comments and run Reddit comments with up to ten permalinks per call.
4. Watch the subreddits where your buyers talk with Reddit subreddit, sort "newest" or "hot".
5. Read Reddit history for free to see how a thread's score and comment count moved across your captures.
6. Run it on a schedule from your own job and send the new mentions to your team.

## Who uses it

- **[Founders](https://apiforagents.dev/platforms/reddit/search-api).** Know the day someone asks for a tool like yours, or complains about the one they use.
- **Support and product.** Find bug reports and feature requests that never reach your inbox.
- **Competitive research.** Read what users say about competitors in their own words, thread by thread.

## Operations used

List prices per record. A call can carry a minimum, so quote first: the quote is free, and a record that does not come back is not charged.

| Step | Operation | What comes back | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reddit search | Posts across Reddit for a keyword | $0.0045 per record |
| 2 | Reddit comments | Top comments on up to ten posts | $0.0045 per record |
| 3 | Reddit subreddit | A subreddit's listing under one sort | $0.0045 per record |
| 4 | X / Twitter searchPosts | Posts by keyword across all authors | $0.000225 per record |

> **Quote first, then cap** Send the search with "estimateOnly": true to see the most it can cost, and set "maxUsd" on each scheduled run so a busy news day cannot overspend.

## The operations in this workflow

- [Reddit search](https://apiforagents.dev/platforms/reddit/search-api): Posts across Reddit for a keyword
- [Reddit comments](https://apiforagents.dev/platforms/reddit/comments-api): Top comments on up to ten posts
- [Reddit subreddit](https://apiforagents.dev/platforms/reddit/subreddit-api): A subreddit's listing under one sort
- [X / Twitter searchPosts](https://apiforagents.dev/platforms/x_twitter/post-search-api): Posts by keyword across all authors

## Questions

### Can I search Reddit comments by keyword?

Search finds posts. Pull the comments on the posts you care about with the comments operation, up to ten posts per call.

### Can I find X accounts as well as posts?

Yes. A separate search operation finds X accounts by keyword, a name, a topic or a bio phrase.

### How do I avoid reading the same post twice?

Keep the post ids or permalinks you have seen and skip them on the next run. Reddit history is free for posts you already captured.

## Why API for Agents

- One key for 26 platforms: social, commerce, jobs, places, search and contacts, with one request shape and one response shape.
- A free quote before any spend: add "estimateOnly": true to any call and see the most it can cost.
- Pay per record in US dollars. No subscription, nothing expires, top-ups from $5.
- $0.10 free to try, no card. An AI agent can sign itself up in one request; a person claims it later.
- Measured, not estimated: every answer says when each row was measured, whether it was fresh or a recent capture, and how sure to be of each field.
- Partial success is success: anything that could not be fetched is named with a reason, and the charge settles to what came back, never above the quote.
- Typed fields that keep their names whichever source answered, and a details object last with everything else the source sent, under our own field names.
- Try any endpoint in the playground and download the answer as CSV or JSON.

## Start

The playground runs any endpoint by hand: pick a platform and what you want from it, fill a short form named in plain words (or press Use sample input), see the free quote on the Run button, run it, then read the answer as a table or JSON and download it as CSV or JSON. The same call is written out as cURL, Python and Node while you type. Open it at https://apiforagents.dev/dashboard/run (sign in first).
