- Billed: Per record
- Free to start: $0.10
- Endpoint: POST /v1/upwork

## What people build with the Upwork Jobs API

- **Find work worth bidding on.** Let an agent watch for new expert-level jobs in your skill, from clients who have hired before, and flag the ones with few proposals.
- **Freelance market research.** See which skills clients ask for, at what hourly rates and budgets, and how crowded each job is.
- **Job feeds and alerts.** Build a feed of fresh Upwork jobs for a niche, sorted newest first, for a team or a community.

## Quote it, then run it

1. free quote: the exact price, nothing charged:

```bash
curl -X POST https://apiforagents.dev/v1/upwork \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AFA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"op":"search","query":"shopify developer","sort":"newest","experienceLevel":["expert"],"clientLocation":["United States"],"limit":10,"estimateOnly":true}'
```

2. the same call, run:

```bash
curl -X POST https://apiforagents.dev/v1/upwork \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AFA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"op":"search","query":"shopify developer","sort":"newest","experienceLevel":["expert"],"clientLocation":["United States"],"limit":10}'
```

## Inputs

Everything you can send in one search call. Required inputs first.

| Input | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| query * | string | ≤300 chars |
| sort | enum |  |
| includeHourly | boolean | Keep hourly-rate jobs. Set both this and includeFixed false and nothing matches. |
| hourlyMin | integer | USD per hour. 0- |
| hourlyMax | integer | USD per hour, the upper bound; only hourly jobs are affected. 0- |
| includeFixed | boolean | Keep fixed-price jobs. |
| budgetMin | integer | USD, the fixed-price budget. 0- |
| budgetMax | integer | USD, the fixed-price budget's upper bound; only fixed jobs are affected. 0- |
| experienceLevel | enum list | The level the client asked for. Any listed level matches; empty = all. |
| clientHistory | enum list | How many jobs the client has hired for before: none, 1-9, or 10+. Empty = any client. |
| projectLength | enum list | Expected duration: under a week, under a month, 1-6 months, or ongoing (6+). Empty = any length. |
| hoursPerWeek | enum list | Weekly commitment: part-time (under 30 h) or full-time (30 h+). Empty = either. |
| clientLocation | text list | Client countries, as Upwork spells them ("United States"). each ≤60 chars |
| limit | integer | 5-100 |

## What comes back

The fields of every row, always present. Nothing is guessed: a value that could not be measured is null, and the answer's coverage says why.

| Field | Type |
|---|---|
| jobId | string |
| jobUrl | string |
| jobTitle | string |
| jobDescription | string |
| posted | string |
| deadline | string |
| jobType | string |
| projectType | string |
| projectLength | string |
| weeklyWorkload | string |
| hourlyRateMin | number |
| hourlyRateMax | number |
| fixedBudget | number |
| hourlyBudgetSource | string |
| experienceLevel | string |
| englishLevel | string |
| skills | any |
| skillGroups | list of string |
| category | string |
| categoryGroup | string |
| occupation | string |
| applicants | integer |
| interviewing | integer |
| invitesSent | integer |
| unansweredInvites | integer |
| hired | integer |
| positionsToHire | integer |
| jobStatus | string |
| jobAccess | string |
| contractToHire | boolean |
| featuredJob | boolean |
| localMarketJob | boolean |
| locationCheckRequired | boolean |
| risingTalentOk | boolean |
| minJobSuccessScore | number |
| freelancerType | string |
| requiredCountries | string |
| requiredRegions | string |
| requiredTimezones | string |
| requiredLanguages | string |
| client | any |
| clientOtherOpenPostings | any |
| similarJobs | any |
| resultRank | integer |
| details | object |

details is always the last field: everything else the source sent for that row, under our own field names. Its keys depend on the source that answered, so read them defensively; it is {} when there is nothing more.

## A sample answer

Made-up names and values in the real field names, so you can see the shape before you spend anything.

| jobTitle | jobType | fixedBudget | experienceLevel | projectLength | skills |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build a Shopify product feed sync | fixed | 800 | intermediate | 1 to 3 months | ["Shopify","Node.js","APIs"] |
| Shopify theme speed fixes | hourly |  | expert | Less than 1 month | ["Shopify","Liquid","Web performance"] |
| Migrate store from WooCommerce to Shopify | fixed | 1500 | expert | 1 to 3 months | ["Shopify","WooCommerce","Data migration"] |

## Pricing

Pay as you go, in US dollars, per record. No subscription, nothing expires, $5 first top-up, and every new agent starts with $0.10 free.

| Request | Records | At the list price |
|---|---|---|
| One job | 1 | $0.0027 |
| 10 jobs | 10 | $0.027 |
| A full page | 100 | $0.27 |

These are per-record list prices. Some calls also carry a minimum, such as a page of search results, so a small request can cost more than the table shows. The quote ("estimateOnly": true) is free, gives the most your exact request can cost, and the charge then settles to what came back. Records that do not come back are refunded.

## Try it without writing code

- [Open the Upwork Jobs API in the playground](https://apiforagents.dev/dashboard/run?platform=upwork&op=search): The playground runs any endpoint by hand: pick a platform and what you want from it, fill a short form named in plain words (or press Use sample input), see the free quote on the Run button, run it, then read the answer as a table or JSON and download it as CSV or JSON. The same call is written out as cURL, Python and Node while you type.

## Why this one, and not a scraper you run yourself

- No login, no Upwork account, no cookies, no proxies, no browser to babysit.
- When the site changes its pages, your request stays the same: keeping the reads working is our job, not yours.
- A fetch that fails costs nothing: it is named in the answer with a reason, and the quote says the most a call can cost before it runs.

## Questions

### What does the Upwork Jobs API return?

One row per job: title, job type (hourly or fixed), the fixed budget or the hourly rate range, experience level, project length, skills, the proposal count, the posted date, the job id and the job URL.

### What do I pass in?

A keyword query is required. Optional filters: sort by relevance or newest, keep hourly or fixed-price jobs, hourly rate and fixed budget ranges in US dollars, experience level (entry, intermediate or expert), client history (no hires, 1 to 9, or 10 or more), project length, hours per week, client countries as Upwork spells them, and a limit of 5 to 100.

### How much does it cost?

$0.0027 per job at the list price. A small call can carry a minimum, so quote first with "estimateOnly": true, which is free and is the most the call can cost. You pay for what comes back.

## Why API for Agents

- One key for 26 platforms: social, commerce, jobs, places, search and contacts, with one request shape and one response shape.
- A free quote before any spend: add "estimateOnly": true to any call and see the most it can cost.
- Pay per record in US dollars. No subscription, nothing expires, top-ups from $5.
- $0.10 free to try, no card. An AI agent can sign itself up in one request; a person claims it later.
- Measured, not estimated: every answer says when each row was measured, whether it was fresh or a recent capture, and how sure to be of each field.
- Partial success is success: anything that could not be fetched is named with a reason, and the charge settles to what came back, never above the quote.
- Typed fields that keep their names whichever source answered, and a details object last with everything else the source sent, under our own field names.
- Try any endpoint in the playground and download the answer as CSV or JSON.
